Description

Warm, spiced, and perfectly nostalgic, this Applesauce Cobbler is a cozy dessert that’s simple to prepare and easy to love. It’s perfect for fall evenings, holiday gatherings, or any time you crave comforting flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups applesauce (sweetened or unsweetened)

1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free mix)

1/3 cup sugar (white or brown)

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cinnamon (plus extra to taste)

1/4 cup cold butter (or plant-based substitute)

1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Grease an 8- or 9-inch baking dish.

3. Spread applesauce evenly in the dish and stir in cinnamon.

4. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and more cinnamon if desired.

5. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingertips until mixture is crumbly.

6. Add milk and stir gently to form a soft dough or batter.

7. Drop spoonfuls of topping over the applesauce; lightly spread if desired.

8. Bake for 25-35 minutes, until the top is golden and the applesauce bubbles at the edges.

9. Let sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of caramel.

To make it vegan, use plant-based butter and non-dairy milk.

To make it gluten-free, substitute a one-to-one gluten-free baking flour.

You can add sliced apples or pears for texture.

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
