Ingredients

1/4 cup cold butter (or plant-based substitute)
1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Grease an 8- or 9-inch baking dish.
3. Spread applesauce evenly in the dish and stir in cinnamon.
4. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and more cinnamon if desired.
5. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingertips until mixture is crumbly.
6. Add milk and stir gently to form a soft dough or batter.
7. Drop spoonfuls of topping over the applesauce; lightly spread if desired.
8. Bake for 25-35 minutes, until the top is golden and the applesauce bubbles at the edges.
