Description

These soft and chewy Matcha Crinkle Cookies blend vibrant green tea flavor with the nostalgic crackle of powdered sugar. Perfect for tea time, holidays, or gifting, they’re easy to make and visually stunning.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

1 3/4 cups (210g) all-purpose flour

2 tbsp culinary-grade matcha powder

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar (for coating)

Instructions

1. Cream butter and sugar together for 3 minutes until light and fluffy.

2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in vanilla.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, matcha, baking powder, and salt.

4. Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients in three additions.

5. Chill dough in refrigerator for 30 minutes (or 10 minutes in freezer).

6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

7. Scoop 25g portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat thoroughly in powdered sugar.

8. Place on prepared sheet, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake 10-12 minutes.

9. Cookies are done when tops are crackled and edges look set.

10. Cool on wire rack before serving or storing.

Notes

Double-coat in powdered sugar for the boldest crackle effect.

Chilling helps prevent excessive spread and deepens color.

Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze raw dough up to 3 months.
