Description

A cozy skillet-style sloppy joe inspired by classic Philly cheesesteak flavors with beef, peppers, and melty cheese.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb ground beef

1 tbsp olive oil

1 small yellow onion, finely diced

1 green bell pepper, finely diced

8 oz mushrooms, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup beef broth

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded provolone cheese

Salt and black pepper, to taste

4 hamburger buns

Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.

2. Add onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for 5-6 minutes, until softened.

3. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds, just until fragrant.

4. Add Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly reduced.

5. Lower heat and stir in cream cheese until fully melted and the mixture is creamy.

6. Fold in shredded provolone cheese and season with salt and black pepper to taste.

7. Spoon the mixture onto hamburger buns and serve warm.

Notes

Toast the buns lightly for extra texture and flavor.
